How to Move Post Categories to first line in Post Byline

By default the post categories are shown in second line of Byline. But it is better if you show it on first line instead of showing it in second line, so that you can omit the unnecessary second line.

This is simple. Just add the following line of code into custom_functions.php. Make sure to backup the file before editing.

function add_to_byline() {
if (!is_page())
echo ‘ in <span>’ . get_the_category_list(‘,’) . ‘</span>’;
}

add_action(‘thesis_hook_byline_item’, ‘add_to_byline’, ’99’);

After adding the code, refresh the post and you’ll see the category name has moved to first line.

How to style Author Name in post byline

You can change the color of Author Name in Post byline easily. Just add the following line of code into custom.css. Replace the color code with your favorite one.

/* Unlinked author name */
.custom span.author {
color: #888888;
}
/* Linked author name */
.custom span.author a {
color: #888888;
}
