How to Remove a Indexed Page from Google

by Taswir Haider in SEO

There is a certain time when you might like to remove a page from Google indexation. The page might be of low quality and for any other reason you do not like to make it available in search engines. Or you have removed the page from your site but it is still showing in Google’s listing. To remove the page you can request Google to remove the listing from their end.

Remove Page from Google Index

Assumed that you have already listed your site through Google Webmaster tool. If you haven’t submitted yet, refer to my earlier guide on how to submit website and Sitemap to Google.

After you have added your website to Google Webmaster Tool, visit Google Webmaster tool removal link and sign in with your ID and password.

Click on “Create a new Removal Request” and enter the complete page URL including http://. Click Continue.

The status will now show as “pending” as it is under Google’s check. Once Google unindex the page, the status will change to “removed”.

Normally it takes 1 or 2 days to finalize the removal process after your application, so be patient and check at periodic interval.

When you create the removal request of a live page, make sure you also make it noindex so that in future Google cannot crawl it and index again!
