How to Submit Sitemap to Bing to get the maximum benefit from Bing search?

Whenever we write or promote any post, we are always concern about ranking it in Google. But we almost ignore other search engines like Bing, Yahoo or Ask. There is not much difference on the algorithm of search engines and when you optimize for Google, it should work more or less for other search engines too.

However what we can do in Bing’s part is to submit the site to Bing Webmaster Tool after our new blog goes live. It will help to increase the crawl rate of Bing and include your pages faster in the index.

On the next screen, enter your sitemap location. In general, your sitemap location should be www.yourdomain. com/sitemap.xml.

After you click Add, you will be asked to verify your ownership. You can do this in three ways:

By uploading an XML file into your server

Copy Paste meta tag in your webpage

Add Cname record to DNS setting.

I recommend XML file method, just download the file into your computer and upload it to the root directory of your blog. Click on VERIFY and you’ll be successful submitting sitemap to Bing!

After you have verified your site, it should appear on your Dashboard. Go to dashboard and click on your site link. From the left menu you will find a number of option which you can adjust if necessary. If you do not make any changes, still its ok as the default settings should work fine.

There was a time while submitting website or sitemap to Bing, bloggers experienced Sitemap status as “Pending” for months and even for year, but seems now Bing has solved it recently. I also faced the problem like others, visited support forum and related posts but no solution for long time. Good news is that now I can see all my sites submit status as “Success” instead of “Pending”. Hope you will also enjoy the same result like me!
